I know I have mentioned the Niarbyl in previous articles but I think this aerial view is interesting. You can see quite clearly how the Niarbyl gots its name.....from the Manx 'yn arbyl' meaning 'the tail.
For Dona , I have indicated the cottage that Ned Devine supposedly lived in , in the film 'Waking Ned '.
Years ago, when I had a little boat and was a lot fitter, I used to go snorkeling off these rocks....you can see how clear the water is . Just to the South of the Niarbyl you can see a large white beach.....indeed that is what it is called...Yn Traie Bane in Manx ...the White Beach! So named as the beach consists of quite large, round, white quartz pebbles.
